Module 1 — Foundations of Fascia
Superficial Fascia: The Layer We Work
28 min read
Most massage training focuses on muscle bellies. NeuralTouch technique works primarily in the superficial fascia — the layer between skin and muscle that is richest in sensory nerve endings, mast cells, and hyaluronic acid.
This lesson is a hands-on anatomy review. We'll map the superficial fascial layer across the major body regions, identify where it tends to thicken and restrict, and begin building the palpation vocabulary you'll use throughout the course.
Key Concepts
- Anatomy of the superficial fascia layer by region
- Common restriction patterns in the posterior chain
- Palpation exercise: distinguishing superficial from deep
- Why the superficial layer is the entry point for this work
